Big news came out of the Lancaster-Lebanon League over the weekend.
Lancaster Catholic, a perennial player in both the District 3 and PIAA Class AA playoffs, will move from Section III of the L-L to the big-school Section I starting in the 2012 season.
The Crusaders, who open the 2011 season at Trinity, will also move up to Class AAA.
How Lancaster Catholic was allowed to jump two sections can be confusing situation to explain, so we recommend reading the story from Lancaster Newspapers.
One year after reaching the PIAA Class AA semifinals in 2008, the Crusaders won the state. Lancaster Catholic also won 3-AA gold in 1982, 1983, 2005, 2008 and 2009.
The top-seeded and unbeaten Crusaders were bounced from the 3-AA playoffs in November by Wyomissing in the semifinals.
