Football: Red Land still searching

A rumor came out of the Lancaster-Lebanon League late last month that Red Land settled on Lebanon coach Gerry Yonchiuk to replace Frank Gay, who resigned in January and recently accepted the head coaching job at Camp Hill.

This morning, Red Land athletic director Robert Ackell confirmed via e-mail that the search for a new head football coach "hit a dead end."

So it looks like the Lewisberry school is back to the drawing board -- but it isn't alone. East Shore schools Harrisburg and Steelton-Highspire are also looking to fill vacancies.

Red Land, a Class AAA school that is a member of the Mid-Penn Keystone Division, went 2-8 last year and hasn't enjoyed a winning season since 2008.
