Area high school football players were represented fairly well over the Christmas holiday as five appeared on the Associated Press All-State teams.
Trinity junior offensive lineman Nick Kindler and teammate Ryan Skotnicki, a senior defensive lineman, received the highest praise with their first-team offensive and defensive selections, respectively.
In Class AAA a pair of Red Land teammates earned second-team honors. Defensive lineman Aubrey Moore was voted as an all-state selection for the second time -- last year Moore was on the first team -- and Chad Christen made his first showing on the state-wide list as a placekicker.
Northern running back Michael Davies earned second-team Class AAA offensive honors as the senior ran for 1,578 yards and 30 touchdowns. Davies' total was 372 yards more than Shippensburg's Ethan Naylor, who finished second in area rushing.
Two District 3 standouts were honored in their respective classifications as players of the year. Gettysburg quarterback Evan Lewis took the distinction in Class AAA while running back Jeremiah Young, who led Steelton-Highspire to the PIAA Class A title, was the Single-A Player of the Year.
