Phillipy heads to Albany

Trinity tight end Billy Phillipy recently announced his intention to play collegiate football at the University at Albany.

Phillipy told Scout.com on Jan. 3 that he is also considering Navy and Villanova but does not have any official visits lined up.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder led Trinity in receiving yards this fall with 616 on 29 catches with 11 touchdowns. His breakout game came against Palmyra on Oct. 24 when the senior caught five touchdowns in a 48-12 Trinity rout.

Phillipy, a first-team All-Sentinel tight end, burst onto the scene in the Shamrocks' first game against Middletown with 104 receiving yards on four catches and two touchdowns in a 31-14 win Oct. 11.

Trinity's season ended at 7-4 following a 19-15 loss at Middletown in the District 3 Class AA quarterfinals.

Albany, an NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision school, won the Northeast Conference and finished its 2008 campaign at 9-3.
